Easter Weekend Highlights + Detox Green Smoothie

I hope you had a beautiful Easter weekend! We spent ours sleeping in, relaxing, and doing what we love best...eating and drinking all the yummy things! The Hubs surprised me with brunch reservations at one of our favorite restaurants, Fig & Olive in Newport Beach.

Fig & Olive is known for using the best olive oils, flavors, and ingredients from the Mediterranean region. Some of my favorites from the dinner menu include zucchini carpaccio and the whole roasted Branzino which is served tableside. It is quite the stunner!

We had never been for brunch before and oh my was it yummy! See all of our eats and sips below:

Blood Orange Mimosas >> Blood orange puree and orange juice topped with sparkling wine

Summer in Provence >> Gin, house made rosemary thyme syrup, muddled blackberries, lime juice

The Fig & Olive >> Organic cucumber vodka, blood orange olive oil, egg white, simple syrup, celery, lime juice, blood orange puree

French Omelet >> Herbs, asparagus, scallions, goat cheese served with Mediterranean fries and mixed greens

Riviera Poached Eggs with Salmon >> Poached eggs over heirloom tomatoes (instead of toasted bread), cured salmon, cream cheese horseradish, hollandaise, dill, caper, fried shallot and mixed greens

Needless to say our meal was amazing and if you are local you definitely need to stop by Fig & Olive! After brunch we met up with some friends in Laguna Beach and had a few too many cocktails but had a great time!

This morning I woke up and knew exactly what I needed after a little too much fun...enter my Detox Green Smoothie!

This smoothie is the perfect cure to help your body detox after a night out. The secret ingredient? Cilantro! That's right...this herb isn't just for guacamole and tacos! Cilantro is a powerful detoxifier and helps to cleanse your body of toxins. You'll also find ginger which also cleanses your body of toxins and aids nausea, pineapple which contains bromelain an enzyme that improves digestion, and avocado which is loaded with healthy fats.

Green Detox Smoothie {Serves 1}

1 cup spinach
Large handful fresh cilantro
1 cup frozen mango
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 avocado
1 inch piece fresh ginger
1 1/2 cups almond milk

1. Blend spinach, cilantro and almond milk until smooth.
2. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth and creamy.
