Homemade Almond Milk

Skip the store bought additives and sugar with this homemade almond milk. This recipe is simple, cheap and only uses 3 ingredients!

You've probably seen 1,000 homemade nut milk recipes by now. If you haven't, I'm here to tell you it's ridiculously easy and so much better for you than store bought! Who wants garbage additives and sugar in their milk?! Not me!!

This recipe is simple, cheap and only uses 3 ingredients! You can even substitute different nuts for the almonds. Some other options are: walnuts, cashews, macadamia or hazelnut.

I enjoy my nut milk unsweetened, but you can definitely add some honey or coconut nectar to sweeten it up a bit.

Homemade Almond Milk

Ingredients

1 cup raw almonds
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of pink Himalayan salt

Instructions

1. Add almonds to a glass bowl (I like using meal prep bowls with lids), cover with filtered water, then cover with lid or plastic wrap. Place the bowl in the fridge to soak overnight. The longer the nuts soak the creamier your milk will be. I like to soak mine for about 2-3 days.
2. After soaking, drain and rinse the almonds with water.
3. Add the almonds to a blender. Fill with 6 cups water and blend for 2 minutes.
4. Pour into nut milk bag (game changer) or cheesecloth over a large sauce pan, glass measuring cup or bowl (I like using something with a spout). Squeeze the nut milk bag until liquid stops draining.
5. Stir in vanilla extract, salt and sweetener (if using) until well combined.
6. Pour into a large storage glass. Enjoy the creamy goodness!

What can you use this glorious nut milk for?

Nut milk is an excellent alternative when you are avoiding dairy. Replace in any recipe that calls for regular milk. I love using in smoothies, chia seed pudding, and bulletproof lattes!

  2. It's honestly so easy! I would definitely suggest investing in a nut bag. It's a total game changer plus it's reusable.
