2017 Highlights and 2018 Intentions

Sharing my 2017 highlights and 2018 intentions!

At the end of each year, I look forward to reflecting back on the previous year and looking ahead towards my intentions and dreams for the future year.

2017 taught me so many things. It was a year of positive change for me, and I also learned some valuable lessons. Let's take a look back!

2017 Highlights

I realized my passion for writing on this blog and came back to doing what I love! Focusing on this space as a creative outlet, has given me so much joy!

After following Tone It Up for quite some time, I finally joined as an official member! I also attended my first local TIU meet up! Local TIU OC girls - Where you at?! Joining Tone It Up has been a huge area of growth for me this year. I never would have thought that I would have the courage to put myself out there and meet new people that I've only talked to online, but I challenged myself and I'm so glad that I did! I've made so many new friendships and found so much positive encouragement along the way!

I made the switch to safer beauty products. This is another huge personal accomplishment for me! As a former makeup junkie, it was so hard for me to throw away all my old makeup and skin care products! I didn't make the change all at once, but instead did it gradually - It still wasn't easy! I am so thankful that I did. My damaged and inflamed skin has healed and I feel so much better knowing that I now use all non-toxic, safe products that really work!

I love my Beautycounter products so much that I decided to become a consultant with the company. Through this opportunity I've learned so many new things and experienced so many positive challenges! I did my first ever Facebook live event - Gosh was I nervous! I also had the opportunity to share more about Beautycounter products with a close friend and her friends/family in her home. It was so much fun!

I found a new love for yoga. I can't say enough about the good things that yoga has done for me! It's almost been like therapy for me. The physical benefits are great, but the positive mental and emotional benefits have converted me to a yogi! This year I challenged myself to try an actual yoga studio (rather than only watching videos at home). I also tried hot yoga for the first time and am obsessed! I heard there's a hot yoga studio in Orange County with a Himalayan salt wall?! For sure adding this to my bucket list for 2018!

I learned how to enjoy spending time on my own. This is another big one for me! I now find so much peace and joy in spending time to myself. It really helps me decompress. I'm now all about self care!

Speaking of self care...I focused much more on listening to my body. I'm learning that everyone is unique and that what's right for one person may not be right for everyone. By listening closely to my body, I've learned how to not push myself to hard when working out, how to find the right balance of nutrition that works for me, how much sleep I need each night, etc. It's done wonders for my health!

On that note...I completed my first Whole30. I also survived on a Candida diet for about a month straight (I'll share more on this in an upcoming post). From these experiences I learned that I don't do well on restricted diet plans! Instead I've found that I benefit from following certain health protocol guidelines and modifying them to what works best for me.

We started using Sun Basket weekly and are loving it! Sun Basket is a meal service that provides organic and sustainable ingredients delivered right to your door! I love that they have so many different dietary options including gluten-free, paleo, and vegan!

Looking back at my Instagram, I realized I made some delicious food!! Cooking is my true passion!

I celebrated my 30th birthday. This was a really difficult milestone for me. I'm not really sure why, but it was! Maybe it's because I thought I'd be doing certain things in my life and looking at where I'm at right now, I'm not doing those things. This feeling is woven into one of my 2018 intentions to live in the present! The Hubs took me on a beautiful trip to Napa wine country - It was everything I'd hoped it would be and more!

The Hubs and I celebrated our sixth year of marriage! It probably sounds corny, but with every passing year I find myself loving this man even more than the last. He is my true companion and partner in life and I am eternally thankful to live this life together! To celebrate our anniversary we had one of the most amazing meals of our lives at The Capital Grille. So, so good! They even decorated our table special for us!

The Hubs and I traveled quite a bit! We love visiting our favorite places and added a few new ones this year! We also went on some pretty fabulous date nights!

Let's talk about 2018!

I’ve always considered myself a dreamer, a doer, a thinker, and a big believer in goal setting, but sometimes it can get me into trouble. As I get older, I’m realizing that I tend to focus too rigidly on my goals. I stress over accomplishing them and feel disappointed if they take me in a different direction, or if they aren’t accomplished. That’s why this year I want to do things a bit differently.

This year I’m setting the intention to not change much, but instead continue improving upon the positive changes I've made over the last year and challenge myself to make this year even more fabulous!

2018 Intentions

I plan to focus on self care and taking time for myself.

I'd like to improve my sleep and get on a consistent sleep schedule each night.

I have big plans for this blog and hope to put together some creative content!

My biggest intention for the year will be to focus on balance. I'm a very all of nothing person, and I definitely struggle with living a balanced lifestyle. This is something I started working on last year and want to continue improving!

I'd love to hear from you! What were your favorite highlights from 2017? What do you plan to focus on in 2018 to make it even better?
